The Peru fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Calixto Inchaurdi should have stopped the shot. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Jorrin Briones could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Lev Yashin made a huge save. For all the effort they put into the match, the Peru players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Argentina.
