¿Quién es Condorito? / Who is Condorito?

Condorito fue creado por el caricaturista René Ríos Boettiger, o como era llamado por algunos "Pepo". Condorito apareció por primera vez en 1948, en la revista "Okey",
donde en un principio era sólo una página entre las 32 otras páginas
que contenía la revista. Fue tanto el éxito de dicha página que la
editorial decidió crear una revista independiente que primero fue anual y
después, con su creciente éxito, fue semestral y continuó aumentando su
frecuencia hasta llegar a ser quincenal.
La creación de Condorito no pasaba por el como se vería ni la ideología
que debía proyectar ni con que gente se relacionaría. Condorito, que se
fue formando a medida que pasaba el tiempo. Al principio era mucho más
chato y flaco, era más cóndor, sin embargo vivía entre humanos. Creo que
éste fue el rasgo que lo diferenció de los personajes de Disney, que
viven en un mundo aparte del real. Condorito es un simpático personaje
que vive situaciones divertidas en su barrio, en su casa, en el campo,
en la playa, en cualquier parte. Con el avance de la ciencia vivirá
hasta en la Luna, Marte o incluso, el Internet.
El éxito de Condorito, se debió también, al no
emitir mensajes políticos, ni religiosos, ni de ninguna tendencia que
apocara la esencia del personaje. La mayoría de los personajes que iban surgiendo en el entorno de Condorito, fueron inspirados en gente cercana a su creador.
Un
hito importante en la historia de Condorito, fue que hace más de 35
años Pepo vendió todos sus derechos a World Editors Inc., conservando
solamente sus derechos para la revista en Chile, su tierra natal.
Entonces World Editors con socios locales llevó la revista a todos los
países hispánicos de Latinoamérica y en todos fue incorporada y adaptada
al medio local con enorme éxito. Años después World Editors
transfirió la publicación de esta revista a la Editorial mejicana
Televisa, con presencia en toda Latinoamérica, y World Editors conservó
todos los demás derechos.
En una de estas viñetas, un personaje hecho de la mezcla entre un cóndor
y un huaso chileno andrajoso y desaliñado, decide dedicarse al cogoteo
('robo'); sin embargo, su primera víctima resulta ser un experimentado
asaltante, quien termina robándole hasta las ojotas ('calzado utilizado
en las faenas del campo'). En los años en que la migración rural chocaba
con la nueva realidad urbana, Condorito se enarboló como la
representación gráfica del campesino pícaro y bromista que intenta
sortear las estrecheces financieras y los reveses de la vida citadina a
punta de ingenio. De allí la vestimenta del primer Condorito: manta de
huaso, ojotas y cigarro encendido.

Who is Condorito?
Condorito was created by cartoonist René Ríos Boettiger , or as he was called by some "Pepo". Condorito first appeared in 1948 in the journal "Okey" , and at first was only a page from the 32 other pages that contained the magazine. Was both the success of the editorial page that decided to create an independent magazine that was only one edition in the first year and then with its growing success was semiannual and continued to increase its frequency to become fortnightly.
The creating of Condorito not passed by the design or the ideology. Condorito was formed as time passed. At first he was more flat and thin, was more condor, but living among the humans. I think this was the feature that distinguished him from the Disney characters, who live in a world apart from the real.
Condorito is a sympathetic character who lives funny situations in your neighborhood, at home, in the countryside, on the beach, or anywhere . With the advancement of science will live in the Moon, Mars or even the Internet.
The success of Condorito, was also due, because not issued political or religious messages, or any trend that could damage the essence of the character. Most of the characters that arose in the vicinity of Condorito, were inspired by people close to its creator.
An important milestone Condorito history, was 35 years ago, when Pepo sold all rights of Condorito to World Editors Inc. , retaining only their rights to the magazine in Chile, his homeland. Then World Editors with local partners led the magazine to all Hispanic countries of Latin America and in all was incorporated and adapted to the local environment with great success. Years later was transferred from World Editors to Editorial Televisa Mexican with a presence in Latin America, but World Editors retained all other rights.
In one of these vignettes, a character made of a mix between a condor and a ragged, unkempt chilean "huaso", decided to devote himself to "cogoteo" ("theft with a knife"); however, his first victim turns out to be an experienced assailant, who ends up stealing the "ojotas" (a tipe of sandals used in agricultural tasks). In the years of rural migration clashed with the new urban reality, Condorito was hoisted as the graphical representation of the peasant joker and rogue trying to circumvent financial hardships and setbacks of city life at the point of genius. Hence the dress first Condorito: huaso blanket, sandals and lit cigar.
