Preview Season 47 Benelux

Benelux (French: Bénélux), is a union of states comprising three neighbouring countries in northwestern Europe: Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. The union's name is formed from joining the first two or three letters of each country's name – Belgium Netherlands Luxembourg – and was first used to name the customs agreement that initiated the union (signed in 1944). It is now used in a more general way to refer to the geographic, economic and cultural grouping of the three countries.

1 KFC Waalshoek has won the Eerste Klasse the last 3 seasons, and they are looking hot for a 4th consequative win. Last season Brussels FC came dangerously close, just 3 points behind come end of season. This season there is another contender in the mix, and KFC Waalshoek really have to step up their game in order to get the trophy.
2 Triquetra AFC has spent 17 out of the last 18 seasons in Eerste Klasse. After 6 topdivision trophies in 8 seasons they sold an entire generation of players and bought a full set of younger players around the age of 24-25. This resulted in mid table finishes the last 3 seasons. The manager claims the current generation is the best he has ever had, and knowing how successful this team has been both domestically and internationally in the past.. Results in pre-season matches has been very promising, and it looks like this team yet again belongs in the elite in the world.
3 Brussels FC has always been known for being a mid table finisher. Last season they must have done something out of the ordinary as they finished just shy of the trophy, 3 single points behind the winner.
4 FC Viitorul Buzau are making their debut in the Eerste Klasse. Looking at the players they are in possession of, they might actually do well. 28 year old Wayne De Kerper is a player of quality, and a key figure within the squad. Viitorul Buzau will have to rely on him to produce the goods offensively if they are to fight in the top of this competative league.
5 Beerschot AC did better than expectation last season and ended 3rd. Their best ever position came in season 39 when they finished 2nd. Håkan Thorsberg is their Swedish danger man upfront, and is a potential topscorer if he manages to keep his focus on football. Scandals in the past involved everything from barfights to showing up drunk for a match (and scoring a hattrick in the wrong net).
6 Doische managed for the first time ever to avoid relegation from Eerste Klasse, after two failed attempts previously. Anything but a mid table finish seem very unlikely for this team. Doische was founded as late as 2009, and has made impressive progress in Belgium.
7 The Olympians finished 6th last season. They are likely to finish thereabouts this season aswell.
8 FC finished 8th last season, and there is no indication to support that they will do any better this season. Their record best position came just two seasons ago when they finished 2nd. The club has never won any awards for best clubnames. Their previous clubname was Hull City.
9 SC Halle ended on 4th place last season, but had several lucky wins throughout the season. Luck is bound to run out at some point, and also the fact that they recently lost 3 of their very best players to retirement means this team is likely to end up fighting against relegation.
10 KV Wanzele is back in the topleague for the first time since season 34. The highflying pink pigs can at best hope for a playoff place. They don't have any players that stand out, no player that can make a difference in tight matches. Instead they will have to rely on hard teamwork to secure the points nescessary.
11 De Kikkers are making their debut in the Eerste Klasse, but it will be a shortlived affair as they are fielding an U23 team supplemented by a keeper the age of 27.
12 Antwerp Hellhounds is a young team, not quite ready for the big league. Likely contender for direct relegation.

1 Decathlon Dudes suffered the worst possible way to lose a title last season, on goal difference. They just needed to win their final league match of the season, but despite dominating it completely it ended as a draw. Their biggest rival is selling his players, and this means it could finally be Decathlon Dudes' season. Two players are retiring, but a good bench means it should not be a problem to replace these players from within their own squad. This team has managed the vare rare achievement of winning both U18, U21, U23 and Senior National Cup!
2 Fargo SC ended 3rd last season, only 5 points behind the winner. No retirements means this team is very likely to challenge for the title this season aswell. Key player is attacker Jacob van Duuren, and much of the season will be dependant on how he performs upfront. He was bought for roughly 370 000 euro at an early age, and might be one of the best purchases manager Scottpk has done. Fargo SC has won both U18, U21 and U23 National cups, but yet to win any of the major domestic trophies.
3 7 points seperated Weena from the title last season, a title they have not won since season 21. Their star player portuguese Miguel Ramos is reported unhappy due to team not participating in any Elite cups the coming season. A transfer request might be imminent. He was bought just a season ago for half a million euro, or "peanuts" in layman terms.
4 De Pelgrims might move one step up the ladder now that The Generals have laid down their weapons. That said, this season could be tougher than expected as their star striker Geale Mol just retired. He is going to start working in a golf facility. Wearing full blown scuba diving equipment he will dive all day long for golf balls that ends up in ponds. He is both interested in shallow waters and small balls, so why not. 3 dollars a piece, which will ensure food on the table for his family.
5 FC Kamperland has never won anything allthough it was founded already back in 2004. The team is among the highest valued in the Netherlands.
6 AC Pitt Bier is a real up and comer. Their rating is the highest in the country, which means that they are likely to challenge for the title within a few seasons. Lack of experience means they will have to settle for a mid table finish this season. Recently bought dutch NT Gijs Meulman for close to 4 million euros. AC Pitt Bier mainly consist of players that won them the U23 National Cup twice in a row some seasons ago.
7 Nenger de Penger FC got promoted from 1. division, but their team is still likely to pack a punch. Dirk Harmsen is a very solid keeper, and might be the star player in this team. They mainly consist of hard working players completely lacking both flair and luxury cars, well, except the keeper of course. He drives a Mitsubishi Lancer, but it is a GTi with a spoiler.
8 MobylDick got promoted. Likely to get relegated.

9 Hassel did the smart thing and sold Almir Lago just two months after he bought him. It was done with less around 1 million euro in loss. Some of this money was spent buying 4 players. There is still money piled up, and this could come in handy if this team is to avoid relegation. Their key player is striker Jean-Paul Pik, not quite Lago, but he doesn't require the same wage either.
10 Geel Zwart Breda got promoted, but will have problems avoiding relegation in quite a competative division. The team might lack the real quality player that can make a difference in tight games.
11 Wings on Ice sold his players after he discovered MZ football had nothing to do with icehockey, his beloved sport.
12 The Generals recently conducted a sell out. Relegation next.
