Salvador Salamanca was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Iurie Iordan showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-0 in the 19 minute of play. The U21 Honduras fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 6-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lorenzo Flamenco to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Honduras's zone, Iacob Boc stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Salvador Salamanca came out of the goal and Iacob Boc tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to U21 Romania getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Bruce Norris hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Pompiliu Luțu in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Salvador Salamanca prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, U21 Honduras's Nelson Mejia got a free kick in the 67th minute. U21 Romania's Costică Ţipirig was substituted for Laurențiu Cazan. In the 68th match minute, U21 Honduras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nelson Mejia to maneuver through the defense. Salvador Salamanca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Traian Ganea in the 69th minute of play. Salvador Salamanca breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Luca Frumuzache fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Salvador Salamanca having to interfere.
