Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) U21 Mexico's Don Vergas started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 7th match minute, U21 Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Don Vergas to maneuver through the defense. 8 minutes into the match, U21 Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Iggy Boyd came free, but Godfredo Gagriel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. U21 Mexico's Godfredo Gagriel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iggy Boyd in the 12th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Don Vergas during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 14 played minutes U21 Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Don Vergas. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Australia's zone, Santo Muno stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jamese Clinton came out of the goal and Santo Muno tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Don Vergas in the 28thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jamese Clinton, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Benny Waterland struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Godfredo Gagriel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Australia. U21 Australia were furious when Tiger Wivell was red carded, 32 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 32 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for U21 Australia! U21 Australia:s Jamese Clinton showed great skill when he stopped Don Vergas:s penalty. Leandro Arlo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Jamese Clinton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. U21 Australia's Iggy Boyd got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Iggy Boyd in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Godfredo Gagriel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to U21 Australia getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Iggy Boyd hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet as U21 Mexico's Don Vergas slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jamese Clinton. That made the score 1-0 after 45 minutes of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
After 53 played minutes U21 Mexico got a freekick which was hit by José Cardozo. After 55 played minutes U21 Australia got a freekick which was hit by Samuel Mcenally. Jamese Clinton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Cardozo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 61st minute, Godfredo Niva got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. U21 Australia made a substitution. Earl Shorten replaced Iggy Boyd. Godfredo Gagriel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Earl Shorten, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that José Cardozo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jamese Clinton was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. U21 Mexico's Godfredo Gagriel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Earl Shorten in the 73rd minute of play. The attack was good, but when Earl Shorten in the 76th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. U21 Australia made a substitution. Arnie Carragher replaced Art Christian. U21 Australia made a substitution. Rusty Morey replaced Howie Hogan. Lino Montel charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lino Montel the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of U21 Australia booed when U21 Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lino Montel didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Godfredo Niva fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Mexico's protests and gave Godfredo Niva a yellow card for diving instead. After 84 played minutes U21 Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Godfredo Niva. In the 86th minute, Samuel Mcenally hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match clock showed 88 minutes, the score became 3-0 when José Cardozo sped through U21 Australia's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jamese Clinton. 92 minutes into the match, Earl Shorten notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of U21 Mexico's Godfredo Gagriel. Godfredo Gagriel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. U21 Mexico were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of U21 Australia for a fine match.
