It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Tom Cepa kicked off to start the match. The supporters of U21 Chile booed when U21 Wales was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Llwydeu Lane didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 7 played minutes U21 Chile got a freekick which was hit by Mateo Ried. In the 9th minute, U21 Chile's Mateo Ried seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Mateo Ried the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of U21 Chile protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Mateo Ried had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After some careless play in the U21 Chile defense, Tom Cepa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lauro Danitz. The U21 Chile fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lauro Danitz should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Urien Case during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 12th match minute, U21 Wales was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Urien Case to maneuver through the defense. U21 Chile's Lauro Danitz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gowther Huddleston in the 19th minute of play. If Jose Orbegoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Kala Aránguiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. U21 Chile's Lauro Danitz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gowther Huddleston in the 31st minute of play. Lauro Danitz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gowther Huddleston, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 33rd minute of the match U21 Wales got a corner. U21 Chile's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Llyn Carrey ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on U21 Wales's corner Llyn Carrey fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Lauro Danitz quite easily take care of the ball. With a little luck, U21 Wales's Drew Laing got control of the ball when Jose Orbegoso tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Jose Orbegoso kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Drew Laing. That made the score 1-1 in the 38 minute of play. After having played for 44 minutes, Jose Orbegoso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Chile's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jose Orbegoso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, U21 Wales's Iago Ironside got a free kick in the 46th minute. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Wales's zone, Kala Aránguiz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Drew Laing came out of the goal and Kala Aránguiz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jose Orbegoso was the one to do the kick off. In the 55th minute, Remigio Haverbeck got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 56 played minutes U21 Chile got a freekick which was hit by Jose Orbegoso. The supporters of U21 Wales booed when U21 Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Florián Alcázar didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Matteo Floto fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Chile's protests and gave Matteo Floto a yellow card for diving instead. Matteo Floto hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. U21 Wales's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Llyn Carrey in the 67th minute. Drew Laing showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jose Orbegoso in the 77th minute of the match. U21 Chile's Mohamed Ali Al-Haddad was substituted for Matteo Floto. U21 Chile made a substitution. Uriel Victoriano replaced Remigio Haverbeck. In the 82nd match minute, U21 Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Uriel Victoriano to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to U21 Wales getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Huw Hartcliff hit a great ball. U21 Wales's Drew Laing played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kala Aránguiz in the 84th minute of play. A hard shot 86 in the game by Tom Cepa from a close distance when the talented Lauro Danitz managed to make a qualified save. U21 Chile's players were relieved. In the 90th minute, Rolando Zelaya left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Chile fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. When the referee ended the match the U21 Chile players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
