After taking down the ball on Turkey's corner Mustafa Hakan Oktar fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Agamenón Abellan quite easily take care of the ball. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jair Domínguez stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Esen Irgatbaşı had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Agamenón Abellan. Spain's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Esen Irgatbaşı was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Turkey's Mürsel Urhan in the 63rd minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Agamenón Abellan was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Spain through an amazing save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xove Herrera in the 65th minute of play forced Turkey's goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Spain made a substitution. C.J. Grande replaced Pello Flores. Spain's Naike Casas was substituted for Jair Domínguez. Pacorro Reina got a throw-in 69 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Xove Herrera. 71 minutes into the match, Esen Irgatbaşı dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Agamenón Abellan, 1-3. Igor Akinfeev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xove Herrera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Spain's zone, Esen Irgatbaşı stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Agamenón Abellan came out of the goal and Esen Irgatbaşı tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Igor Akinfeev showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xove Herrera, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. When Pacorro Reina fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Spain's protests and gave Pacorro Reina a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Spain's Pacorro Reina got a free kick in the 91st minute. Turkey played a much better game than Spain and deserved their victory. The Spain players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
