In the 3rd minute, Fethi Tanto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Markus Tofte charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Markus Tofte the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, U21 Norway's Markus Tofte got a free kick in the 4th minute. 9 minutes into the game, Valdemar Thorud threw the ball into play from the sideline. U21 Italy's Frank Colonna quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Jonathan Lundal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Franco Zarrella in the 13th minute of play. When Valdemar Thorud fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Norway's protests and gave Valdemar Thorud a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, U21 Norway's Valdemar Thorud got a free kick in the 14th minute. After 15 played minutes U21 Norway got a freekick which was hit by Valdemar Thorud. 20 minutes into the match, Franco Zarrella notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of U21 Norway's Jonathan Lundal. Jonathan Lundal was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. William Sandbæk might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Diego De Feo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. William Sandbæk ran back to his position shaking his head. With an all-out effort, U21 Norway's Diego De Feo threw himself towards the right post 25 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from William Sandbæk, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 28th minute Franco Zarrella shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Lundal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Fethi Tanto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonathan Lundal was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. In the 35th minute, Arturo Abbagnale got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jonathan Lundal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fethi Tanto in the 36th minute of the match. Jonathan Lundal didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Franco Zarrella went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. U21 Norway's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Italy the free kick. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fethi Tanto was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, U21 Norway's goalkeeper Jonathan Lundal had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Franco Zarrella. U21 Norway's Jonathan Lundal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fethi Tanto in the 55th minute of play. In the 57th match minute, U21 Norway was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erik Mykland to maneuver through the defense. 64 minutes into the match, U21 Norway's goalkeeper Jonathan Lundal had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Franco Zarrella. Jonathan Lundal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fethi Tanto in the 66th minute of the match. U21 Italy's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Fethi Tanto in the 67th minute. The corner ended in Franco Zarrella almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but U21 Norway's Jonathan Lundal did a great save. Franco Zarrella's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 69thth minute, Jonathan Lundal skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 75 minutes into the match, U21 Italy's goal looked a bit too open when Erik Mykland came free, but Diego De Feo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 76th minute U21 Norway were awarded a corner. Mathias Haarr went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Tom Brady got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Diego De Feo quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. U21 Italy's attack was well implemented in the 84th minute, but when Franco Zarrella was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. Fethi Tanto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Lundal having to interfere. 87 minutes into the match, Franco Zarrella dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jonathan Lundal, 1-4. Jonathan Lundal made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Fethi Tanto sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to U21 Norway getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Markus Tofte hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fethi Tanto in the 92nd minute of play forced U21 Norway's goalkeeper Jonathan Lundal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of U21 Italy booed when U21 Norway was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erik Mykland didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fethi Tanto hit a great freekick 98 minutes into the match.
