The supporters of U21 Slovakia booed when U21 Sweden was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Per Nässén didn't get a good kick on the ball. 3 minutes into the match, U21 Sweden's goal looked a bit too open when Tibor Choreň came free, but Jens-Erik Bengtsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. U21 Slovakia's Marián Herman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robert Colin in the 5th minute of play. When Robert Colin came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the U21 Sweden fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Robert Colin couldn't finish the play. Marián Herman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Villiam Bergdal, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. 8 minutes into the match, Villiam Bergdal had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marián Herman. U21 Slovakia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Villiam Bergdal was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. 11 minutes into the game, Stanislav Mak threw the ball into play from the sideline. U21 Sweden's Henry Lindell quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. U21 Slovakia's Marián Herman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robert Colin in the 12th minute of play. Jens-Erik Bengtsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tibor Choreň in the 22nd minute of play. In the 24th minute Robert Colin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marián Herman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jens-Erik Bengtsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tibor Choreň, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marián Herman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robert Colin in the 26th minute of the match. Robert Colin's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 28thth minute, Marián Herman skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Robert Colin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marián Herman having to interfere. 30 minutes into the match, U21 Slovakia's goal looked a bit too open when Robert Colin came free, but Marián Herman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 32 minutes, Stanislav Mak mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Slovakia and the U21 Sweden players grew even worse after the yellow card. Robert Colin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Marián Herman made a huge save. In the 37th minute, Robert Colin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marián Herman was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. 41 minutes into the game, Stanislav Mak threw the ball into play from the sideline. U21 Sweden's Henry Lindell quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Marián Herman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Robert Colin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Marián Herman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robert Colin in the 59th minute of play. 65 minutes into the match, Robert Colin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marián Herman. U21 Slovakia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Robert Colin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. U21 Sweden's Karl-Johan Dahlbom was substituted for Casper Bohlin. U21 Sweden's Anthony Kay was substituted for Gert Simonsson. U21 Slovakia's Lukáš Uličný was substituted for Danko Glogowski. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Börge Söderman managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Sweden's supporters rose to their feet, but Börge Söderman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marián Herman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 72 minutes into the game, Martin Kvietik recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jens-Erik Bengtsson. Martin Kvietik showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-1. If Börge Söderman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Marián Herman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Börge Söderman in the 76th minute of the match. 80 minutes into the match, U21 Slovakia's goal looked a bit too open when Börge Söderman came free, but Marián Herman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jens-Erik Bengtsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dušan Zápotocký in the 82nd minute of play. If Börge Söderman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jens-Erik Bengtsson made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Matúš Pavlov sent off a good shot on target. U21 Slovakia's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
