In the 6th minute Quinton Candela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eric Neacșu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Loren Lacorte showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ionică Săceanu in the 9th minute of the match. In the 12th minute Ionică Săceanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Loren Lacorte saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th minute, Fabian Vătafu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ionică Săceanu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Loren Lacorte read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. Loren Lacorte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ionică Săceanu in the 25th minute of play. Eric Neacșu made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Torcuato Romero sent off a good shot on target. 30 minutes into the game, Germán Gibert was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Spain's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Romania the free kick. Germán Gibert hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, U21 Spain's Min Gonzalez got a free kick in the 31st minute. After 33 played minutes U21 Romania got a freekick which was hit by Alexandru Izvoranu. U21 Spain's Loren Lacorte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ionică Săceanu in the 35th minute of play. Mátyás Király kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. A hard shot by Min Gonzalez from long distance, 37 minutes into the match, got Eric Neacșu's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Loren Lacorte stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ionică Săceanu's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. Torcuato Romero could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Eric Neacșu made a huge save. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Ionică Săceanu struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Loren Lacorte didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Romania. In the 53rd minute, Torcuato Romero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Florencio Nadal charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Florencio Nadal the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Stelian Cojocaru recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With 58 minutes on the clock, Fabian Vătafu commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. U21 Romania:s Eric Neacșu showed great skill when he stopped Min Gonzalez:s penalty. Ştefan Lupea scored 0-2 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Loren Lacorte, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Loren Lacorte made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vlad Stan in the 68th minute. If Horea Şerban had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. U21 Romania made a substitution. Mihnea Arvinte replaced Mátyás Király. In the 73rd minute Germán Gibert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eric Neacșu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Loren Lacorte was a little too slow when Horea Şerban got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 74th minute. The score was now 0-3. 77 minutes into the match, U21 Romania's goal looked a bit too open when Madeo Pardo came free, but Eric Neacșu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Germán Gibert in the 84th minute of play forced U21 Romania's goalkeeper Eric Neacșu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 85th minute, Mihnea Arvinte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 86th minute of the match Min Gonzalez sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eric Neacșu skillfully saved the ball. 87 minutes into the match, Horea Şerban had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Loren Lacorte. U21 Spain's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Horea Şerban was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4. In the 91st match minute, U21 Spain was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Min Gonzalez to maneuver through the defense. After 95 played minutes U21 Romania got a freekick which was hit by Ferdinand Burileanu.
