Spectators: 10300 (Terracing: 7725, Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) U21 Romania's Gabriel-Omar Batistuta started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Robert Gadocha's late challenge caught a U21 Romania's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Robert Gadocha helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to U21 Poland getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Robert Gadocha hit a great ball. U21 Romania's Edgar Agudin got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Eric Neacșu came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Poland's Gustaw Frenzel. But to his dismay, Gustaw Frenzel quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. U21 Poland's Robert Gadocha got his second yellow card of the match in the 21st minute. The referee ordered Robert Gadocha off the ground. A collision led to U21 Poland getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Robert Gadocha hit a great ball. Emil Sticlaru, 22 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Łukasz Fabiański made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Doru Pașcanu in the 29th minute of play. In the 34th play minute Gabriel-Omar Batistuta came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Łukasz Fabiański. 1-1. Eric Neacșu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaw Frenzel, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. In the 45th minute, Mihnea Arvinte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eric Neacșu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from I Nyoman Qährämanov in the 46th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gabriel-Omar Batistuta got free with Łukasz Fabiański in the 48th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when I Nyoman Qährämanov made the kick off in the second half. If I Nyoman Qährämanov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With an all-out effort, U21 Poland's Eric Neacșu threw himself towards the right post 58 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from I Nyoman Qährämanov, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The supporters of U21 Poland booed when U21 Romania was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ferdinand Burileanu didn't get a good kick on the ball. U21 Romania made a substitution. Stelian Cojocaru replaced Edgar Agudin. After 60 played minutes U21 Romania got a freekick which was hit by Ferdinand Burileanu. U21 Poland's Łukasz Fabiański played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stelian Cojocaru in the 62nd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ionică Săceanu in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Łukasz Fabiański saved U21 Poland from getting behind. Łukasz Fabiański showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doru Pașcanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Gustaw Frenzel blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eric Neacșu having to make a save. U21 Poland's Olgierd Komanski was substituted for I Nyoman Qährämanov. U21 Poland's Witomir Lagiewniki was substituted for Gustaw Frenzel. In the 71st minute Doru Pașcanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Łukasz Fabiański saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. U21 Romania's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Emil Sticlaru in the 72nd minute. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Mihnea Arvinte advanced and headed the ball into goal, 2-1 in the 73rd minute. In the 77th minute, Mihnea Arvinte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eric Neacșu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Witomir Lagiewniki in the 81st minute of play. Łukasz Fabiański took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Doru Pașcanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Łukasz Fabiański showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stelian Cojocaru, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. In the 93rd minute, Stelian Cojocaru left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Romania fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. U21 Romania's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
