Charly Lemoine fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristiano Santana having to interfere. Jean-Philippe Cuny made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Luan Schmidt sent off a good shot on target. In the 13thth minute of the game Luan Schmidt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 France's Jean-Philippe Cuny was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 15 minutes into the game, U21 France's Eden Badin nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cristiano Santana made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. U21 France's Jean-Philippe Cuny proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save U21 France from getting a goal against them. In the 22nd match minute, U21 France was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Omer Agier to maneuver through the defense. 23 minutes into the match, U21 France's goalkeeper Jean-Philippe Cuny had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ramón Correia. When Charly Lemoine fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 France's protests and gave Charly Lemoine a yellow card for diving instead. In the 25th match minute, U21 France was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Charly Lemoine to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Brazil's zone, Allan Chalard stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. In the 34th minute Eden Badin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristiano Santana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. U21 France's Jean-Philippe Cuny played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Víktor Soares in the 38th minute of play. Jean-Philippe Cuny made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Ramón Correia sent off a good shot on target. In the 41st minute, U21 Brazil's Ramón Correia ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jean-Philippe Cuny. Jean-Philippe Cuny yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. With a little luck, U21 France's Jean-Philippe Cuny got control of the ball when Ramón Correia tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jean-Philippe Cuny made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ramón Correia in the 46th minute. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

U21 France made a substitution. Alexandre Michon replaced Damien Loupias. U21 France's Samuel Stenger was substituted for Mohamed Saboureau. The wind increased when Víktor Soares made the kick off in the second half. If Víktor Soares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. Jean-Philippe Cuny showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ramón Correia in the 63rd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luan Schmidt in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jean-Philippe Cuny prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Ramón Correia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jean-Philippe Cuny showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ramón Correia, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Ned Starck's late challenge caught a U21 Brazil's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ned Starck helped the player get up and apologised. After 76 played minutes U21 France got a freekick which was hit by Ned Starck. Jean-Philippe Cuny made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ramón Correia in the 81st minute of play. Jean-Philippe Cuny took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ramón Correia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the U21 France defense, Ramón Correia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jean-Philippe Cuny. The U21 France fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jean-Philippe Cuny should have stopped the shot. Cristiano Santana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexandre Michon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Décio Peixoto took the ball and in the 92 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jean-Philippe Cuny. Jean-Philippe Cuny dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. U21 France's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
