The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Pitoy Ablang's late challenge caught a Faroe Islands's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pitoy Ablang helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Faroe Islands booed when Philippines was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pitoy Ablang didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 18 minutes, Torkil Joensen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Faroe Islands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Torkil Joensen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 0-3 became the score in the 24th minute when Cristobal Brauner elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Kenneth Joensen did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-3 to the left of a surprised Bagwis Cuizon 28 minutes into the match. After 34 played minutes Philippines got a freekick which was hit by Bugoy Bengco. Bagwis Cuizon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kenneth Joensen's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. Meinhardt Hansen hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Faroe Islands's Mikkjal Danielsen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bugoy Cabanting in the 44th minute of play. After having played for 45 minutes, Hjalgrím Jacobsen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Faroe Islands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hjalgrím Jacobsen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 46 minutes into the game, Anton Sacayanan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Philippines's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Faroe Islands the free kick. After 46 played minutes Philippines got a freekick which was hit by Anton Sacayanan. The crowd rose to their feet as Hjalgrím Jacobsen kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Bagwis Cuizon. That made the score 2-3 in the 48 minute of play. After the first half Philippines were leading 2-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kenneth Joensen to make the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Anton Sacayanan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mikkjal Danielsen. Faroe Islands's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Anton Sacayanan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-4. Bagwis Cuizon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kenneth Joensen's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. After a rather tough play, Faroe Islands's Rafał Mikkelsen got a free kick in the 58th minute. If Bugoy Cabanting had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Faroe Islands's Kenneth Joensen in the 61st minute got a chance for a shot 61st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Philippines's goalie prevented a goal. Kenneth Joensen took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bagwis Cuizon. Bagwis Cuizon dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-4. After a rather tough play, Philippines's Pitoy Ablang got a free kick in the 66th minute. Mikkjal Danielsen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bugoy Cabanting, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. 78 minutes into the match, Faroe Islands's goal looked a bit too open when Bugoy Cabanting came free, but Mikkjal Danielsen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Philippines made a substitution. Nur Conlu replaced Matthew Padernal. Philippines made a substitution. Magtanggol Buntua replaced Cristobal Brauner. Faroe Islands made a substitution. Jákup Thomassen replaced Meinhardt Hansen. After a rather tough play, Faroe Islands's Brian Castilho got a free kick in the 80th minute. Kenneth Joensen struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Bagwis Cuizon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Faroe Islands. With a little luck, Faroe Islands's Mikkjal Danielsen got control of the ball when Bugoy Cabanting tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Faroe Islands booed when Philippines was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bugoy Cabanting didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kenneth Joensen in the 97th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bagwis Cuizon prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
