Dennis-Sven Söderström was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Brazil's players had a chance to rest. The corner led U21 Brazil's Dennis-Sven Söderström to fire away a dangerous shot which Matei Hirean despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Alfredão Arósio charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alfredão Arósio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of U21 Romania booed when U21 Brazil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfredão Arósio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Elói Romero showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ion Oblemenco, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. 15 minutes into the game, Basarab Coșeriu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Romania's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Brazil the free kick. After 15 played minutes U21 Romania got a freekick which was hit by Basarab Coșeriu. Alfredão Arósio got a throw-in 17 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Basílio Gomes. In the 19th minute of the match, Samuel Miranda tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Matei Hirean saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 20th minute, Ion Oblemenco ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Elói Romero was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 24th minute Ion Oblemenco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elói Romero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sebastian Andreescu came free in the 30th minute and tried to tip the ball over Elói Romero, but to the joy of U21 Brazil's supporters the ball went over. In the 33rd minute, Cristinel Vârlan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Basílio Gomes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matei Hirean having to interfere. The U21 Brazil players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. U21 Romania were winning 0-1.

After some careless play in the U21 Romania defense, Samuel Miranda kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Matei Hirean. The U21 Romania fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Matei Hirean should have stopped the shot. Marcus da Silveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Matei Hirean tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Elói Romero came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Romania's Ion Oblemenco. But to his dismay, Ion Oblemenco quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. U21 Romania made a substitution. Ernest Nedelcu replaced Ion Oblemenco. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Denílson Mazza in the 74th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Matei Hirean prevented the ball from getting in the gole. U21 Brazil's Elói Romero proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Brazil from getting a goal against them. U21 Romania were awarded a corner in the 77th minute after U21 Brazil's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Constantin Cârstea took the corner. In the 84th minute, Ernest Nedelcu reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Elói Romero. The goal made the score 1-5. Ernest Nedelcu's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 88thth minute, Elói Romero skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Elói Romero didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ernest Nedelcu went, in the 89th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-6 was the resulting score. In the 92nd minute, Dennis-Sven Söderström made a precise shot to the right of Matei Hirean. U21 Romania's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-6. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. U21 Romania had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
