An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergey Biton in the 21st minute of play forced Romania's goalkeeper Remus Blajovan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Israel's Eli Carmieli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nechifor Jugănaru in the 23rd minute of play. In the 24th minute Sergey Biton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Remus Blajovan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 26 minutes, Nechifor Jugănaru made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Israel's Eli Carmieli tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Romania's Nechifor Jugănaru was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 32nd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Eli Carmieli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Florin Huțupan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eli Carmieli made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Nechifor Jugănaru sent off a good shot on target.

The Romania fans cheered their team off the field, for while Israel had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
