The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 10th minute, Filipe Ferreira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Daniel Ferreira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Boleslaw Gieraltowski in the 14th minute of play. The supporters of U21 Portugal booed when U21 Poland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Boleslaw Gieraltowski didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jacek Cizeski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Armando Aleixo in the 19th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gilbert Gdowski got free with Daniel Ferreira in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 22 minutes into the match, U21 Portugal's goalkeeper Daniel Ferreira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gilbert Gdowski. Gilbert Gdowski scored 1-1 in the 22nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Daniel Ferreira, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Daniel Ferreira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Boleslaw Gieraltowski in the 25th minute of play. The corner ended in Miroslaw Snaza almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but U21 Portugal's Daniel Ferreira did a great save. After 27 played minutes U21 Portugal got a freekick which was hit by Quim Bomba. Jacek Cizeski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Armando Aleixo, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. In the 31st minute Jardel Coluna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacek Cizeski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jacek Cizeski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Armando Aleixo in the 33rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilbert Gdowski in the 35th minute of play forced U21 Portugal's goalkeeper Daniel Ferreira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 47th minute Armando Aleixo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacek Cizeski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jacek Cizeski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armando Aleixo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

U21 Poland made a substitution. Cyryl Kaczeniak replaced Gilbert Gdowski. Jacek Cizeski made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Armando Aleixo sent off a good shot on target. U21 Poland's attentive Stanislaw Urban managed to snatch the ball when Diamantino Barros made a throw-in in the 64th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cyryl Kaczeniak in the 69th minute of play forced U21 Portugal's goalkeeper Daniel Ferreira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 75th minute of the match, João Tomas tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jacek Cizeski saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 77 minutes, Napoleon Basinski mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Poland and the U21 Portugal players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 76 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for U21 Poland! With a little luck, U21 Poland's Jacek Cizeski got control of the ball when Eduardo Nunes tried to sneak it across the goal line. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing U21 Portugal would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
