Adyasarana Rao showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sten Lustig, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. 5 minutes into the match, U21 Sweden's goal looked a bit too open when Arthadarsin Mahal came free, but Staffan Nykvist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edgar Wennerström's late challenge caught a U21 India's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edgar Wennerström helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, U21 Sweden's Edgar Wennerström got a free kick in the 6th minute. U21 Sweden's attentive D.J. Luis managed to snatch the ball when Anjuli Mukherjee made a throw-in in the 8th minute of the game. Sten Lustig took the ball and in the 9 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Adyasarana Rao. Adyasarana Rao dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Sten Lustig recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Matthias Nyström's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Adyasarana Rao was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. In the 16th minute Sten Lustig shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adyasarana Rao saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 16th match minute, U21 India was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Atal Nigam to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in U21 India's zone, Sten Lustig stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adyasarana Rao came out of the goal and Sten Lustig tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Matthias Nyström charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Matthias Nyström the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 24th match minute, U21 Sweden was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Matthias Nyström to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Sten Lustig's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Adyasarana Rao was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. The audience was convinced that Sten Lustig's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Adyasarana Rao was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. Adyasarana Rao took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sten Lustig, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Adyasarana Rao stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sten Lustig's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Matthias Nyström in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Adyasarana Rao prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 40th minute of the match, Adinatha Khandelwal sent away a good long shot that could have become a goal, but Staffan Nykvist showed an example of his skillful tending and made the save just under the crossbar. In the 41st minute Matthias Nyström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adyasarana Rao saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Sten Lustig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A throw-in in the 47th minute of the game was made by Anjuli Mukherjee with Arthadarsin Mahal as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. The U21 India players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. U21 Sweden were winning 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Adinatha Khandelwal to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Arthadarsin Mahal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Staffan Nykvist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. U21 Sweden's Edgar Wennerström suffered a torn muscle in his knee after 52 minutes and couldn't finish the game. When Atal Nigam fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 India's protests and gave Atal Nigam a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, U21 India's Atal Nigam got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Haliksana Pinto made in the 86th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Arthadarsin Mahal.
