Hilarius Gregg blasted a shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Juan Esteves having to make a save. 7 minutes into the match, U21 Brazil's goal looked a bit too open when Hilarius Gregg came free, but Juan Esteves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 14th minute Barak Obina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cyril Graber saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 26 minutes, Igor Cavaleiro put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Cyril Graber. In the 29th minute, Igor Cavaleiro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cyril Graber was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barak Obina in the 32nd minute of play forced U21 Switzerland's goalkeeper Cyril Graber to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, U21 Switzerland's Filippo Schurter got a free kick in the 33rd minute. In the 37th minute Barak Obina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cyril Graber saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Juan Esteves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Romain Eigner, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Fritz De Cat recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. U21 Brazil's Bernardo Meireles was substituted for Barak Obina.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Romain Eigner was the one to do the kick off. With 52 minutes on the clock, Ismael Leite commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 51st minute of the game. One of U21 Brazil:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of U21 Switzerland:s goal. Juan Esteves went to the wrong direction when Romain Eigner was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Romain Eigner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juan Esteves having to interfere. A collision led to U21 Switzerland getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Fritz De Cat hit a great ball. U21 Brazil made a substitution. Clayton Pelé replaced Egídio Barreto. U21 Switzerland made a substitution. Julio Simmen replaced Jaime Küttel. The supporters of U21 Brazil booed when U21 Switzerland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fritz De Cat didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Björn Jordi during the 70th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 69th minute, one of U21 Switzerland:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for U21 Switzerland. Cyril Graber came out of the goal in the 70th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Brazil's Igor Cavaleiro. But to his dismay, Igor Cavaleiro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. Julio Simmen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juan Esteves having to interfere. Juan Esteves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fritz De Cat in the 79th minute of the match. Igor Cavaleiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Cyril Graber made a huge save. Juan Esteves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fritz De Cat, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cyril Graber made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Nicolas Augusto sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, U21 Brazil's Andrézinho Cosme got a free kick in the 96th minute. The U21 Brazil supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing U21 Brazil would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
