Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tommy Gadd in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edmund Kasprzykowski prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 40 minutes, Johnny Strömbom managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Sweden's supporters crossed their fingers, but Johnny Strömbom was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to U21 Poland getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Milosz Bilicki hit a great ball. In the 44th minute, Ralf-Bertil Larsson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edmund Kasprzykowski was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

With his leg Bernt Hedvall managed to avoid a goal in the 94thth minute, when U21 Poland's Radomil Brudzisz fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 97 played minutes U21 Sweden got a freekick which was hit by Peter Möllgren.
