The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Teodosio Sergi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Håkan Lindgren, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. Brothers of Mercy's Ni Jun Sha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save Brothers of Mercy from getting a goal against them. Ni Jun Sha made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Olliver Van Meirhaeghe sent off a good shot on target. Per-Oskar Hjortsberg made in the 14th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Håkan Lindgren immediately put the ball in play. After having played for 17 minutes, Olliver Van Meirhaeghe managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Velez Sarsfield's supporters crossed their fingers, but Olliver Van Meirhaeghe was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Håkan Lindgren in the 23rd minute of play forced Velez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Teodosio Sergi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 24 minutes into the game, Gabriel Saliba threw the ball into play from the sideline. Velez Sarsfield's Mart Laar quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 26th minute Håkan Lindgren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teodosio Sergi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Di Yi Yuan came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Brothers of Mercy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Di Yi Yuan couldn't finish the play. In the 42nd minute Håkan Lindgren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teodosio Sergi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Velez Sarsfield getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Olliver Van Meirhaeghe hit a great ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Brothers of Mercy made a substitution. Alex Axelsson replaced Roger Strömberg. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Håkan Lindgren to strike the kick off in the second half. Gabriel Saliba hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Augusto Cordario received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Ni Jun Sha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Olliver Van Meirhaeghe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Augusto Cordario scored 1-0 in the 70th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ni Jun Sha, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Teodosio Sergi had great luck who in the 73rdth minute grab hold of the ball when Håkan Lindgren from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. The audience was convinced that Augusto Cordario's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ni Jun Sha was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. Teodosio Sergi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Di Yi Yuan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Velez Sarsfield's Filomeno Montrell was substituted for Javier Pinola. Velez Sarsfield's Malcolm Ödmann was substituted for Marcos Pacifico. The throw-in from Valter Ahlerot in the 84th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Velez Sarsfield's Ando Averin. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind Velez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Teodosio Sergi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Håkan Lindgren blasted a shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Teodosio Sergi having to make a save. Augusto Cordario's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ni Jun Sha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Brothers of Mercy players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Velez Sarsfield.
