Alfonso Ugarte's Celso de Carvalho proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Alfonso Ugarte from getting a goal against them. Vincent Mirabel hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zachariasz Psotka in the 46th minute of play forced U21 Peru's goalkeeper Agapito Payet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ramon Totti to make the kick off. Agapito Payet took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Honesto Idiaquez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 87th minute Ramon Totti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Celso de Carvalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alfonso Ugarte's Pierres Baz was substituted for Mikolas Laredo. Agapito Payet took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zachariasz Psotka, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
