Rapid Wien's Alf Tempel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elpidio Francis in the 20th minute of play. Alf Tempel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Monclús, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shi Yuan Qi in the 24th minute of play forced ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goalkeeper Branislav Velchevski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alf Tempel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from André Monclús in the 25th minute of the match. 28 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goalkeeper Branislav Velchevski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fausto Montel. Branislav Velchevski made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Shi Yuan Qi sent off a good shot on target. In the 35th minute, Petrică Măcriș made a precise shot to the right of Alf Tempel. Rapid Wien's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. In the 41st minute André Monclús shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alf Tempel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elpidio Francis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alf Tempel having to interfere. Alf Tempel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of André Monclús's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. If Daniel Hagedorn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Branislav Velchevski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fausto Montel in the 53rd minute of play. Uwe Kitzbichler's late challenge caught a ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Uwe Kitzbichler helped the player get up and apologised. In the 56th minute Elpidio Francis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alf Tempel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elpidio Francis took the ball and in the 57 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alf Tempel. Alf Tempel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. The supporters of ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA booed when Rapid Wien was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Shi Yuan Qi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rapid Wien's Alf Tempel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elpidio Francis in the 61st minute of play. After 61 minutes of play, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Elpidio Francis made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alf Tempel was left in no man's land by his defense there! Branislav Velchevski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fausto Montel, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. With a little luck, Rapid Wien's Alf Tempel got control of the ball when André Monclús tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rapid Wien's Alf Tempel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save Rapid Wien from getting a goal against them. Alf Tempel had great luck who in the 94thth minute grab hold of the ball when Elpidio Francis from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA were awarded a corner in the 96th minute after Rapid Wien's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Esteban Iztal took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Esteban Iztal got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Alf Tempel quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save.
