The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Montevideo's Christian Passos got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Ronaldo Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Baturhan Oytun in the 7th minute of play. After 8 played minutes Montevideo got a freekick which was hit by Christian Passos. In the 10th minute, Baturhan Oytun ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ronaldo Medeiros was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Laerte Lucas hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. In the 13th minute of the match Fernandinho Mesquita sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ronaldo Medeiros skillfully saved the ball. In the 18th match minute, Montevideo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bogdan Blănaru to maneuver through the defense. In the 19th minute of the match Renato Sá shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ronaldo Medeiros showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luisito Antequera in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Iurie Chiriacescu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Montevideo's Ronaldo Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vladimir de Sena in the 28th minute of play. In the 32nd minute Luisito Antequera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iurie Chiriacescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Montevideo's Ronaldo Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Baturhan Oytun in the 36th minute of play. Ronaldo Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guga Trancoso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 1-2 became the score in the 39th minute when Vladimir de Sena elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Iurie Chiriacescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laerte Lucas in the 43rd minute of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Olavo Matorin made a kick off. Olavo Matorin kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. 59 minutes into the match, Montevideo's goal looked a bit too open when Guga Trancoso came free, but Ronaldo Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Montevideo's Ronaldo Medeiros proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Montevideo from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Guga Trancoso got free with Ronaldo Medeiros in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Baturhan Oytun came free with the goalkeeper in the 64th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ronaldo Medeiros could save by the left post. Baturhan Oytun could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Ronaldo Medeiros made a huge save. With a little luck, Montevideo's Ronaldo Medeiros got control of the ball when Baturhan Oytun tried to sneak it across the goal line. PIAUÍ FC made a substitution. Mete Gøl replaced Baturhan Oytun. Joaquim Ubiña charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Joaquim Ubiña the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. PIAUÍ FC's Iurie Chiriacescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laerte Lucas in the 76th minute of play. 86 minutes into the match, Montevideo's goal looked a bit too open when Guga Trancoso came free, but Ronaldo Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ronaldo Medeiros made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Mete Gøl sent off a good shot on target. Fernandinho Mesquita hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. The Montevideo fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. PIAUÍ FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
