Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jorre Van der Voert in the 7th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Intxixu Porregimon prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 11 minutes into the match, RWDM's goal looked a bit too open when Abel de Lara came free, but Tony Vandenberge reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 13thth minute of the game Jorre Van der Voert who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mexilhão F. C.'s Intxixu Porregimon was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. RWDM's Tony Vandenberge proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save RWDM from getting a goal against them. After 19 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Mexilhão F. C.! Intxixu Porregimon came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by RWDM's Ritchie Kerkhofs. But to his dismay, Ritchie Kerkhofs quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Intxixu Porregimon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorre Van der Voert, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jorre Van der Voert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tony Vandenberge took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abel de Lara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 32 minutes into the match, Mexilhão F. C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Jorre Van der Voert came free, but Intxixu Porregimon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mexilhão F. C.'s Intxixu Porregimon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bass Boffin in the 35th minute of play. In the 37th minute of the match, Anaia Barba tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Tony Vandenberge saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Intxixu Porregimon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jorre Van der Voert, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jorre Van der Voert in the 39th minute of play forced Mexilhão F. C.'s goalkeeper Intxixu Porregimon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of RWDM booed when Mexilhão F. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Germano Pernambucano didn't get a good kick on the ball. 44 minutes into the match, Mexilhão F. C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Bass Boffin came free, but Intxixu Porregimon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 45th minute Ronaldinho Romero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tony Vandenberge saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Intxixu Porregimon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorre Van der Voert, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half RWDM were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

56 minutes into the match, Mexilhão F. C.'s goalkeeper Intxixu Porregimon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bass Boffin. 59 minutes into the match, Mexilhão F. C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Bass Boffin came free, but Intxixu Porregimon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 63 minutes into the game, Mikael Valström was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. RWDM's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mexilhão F. C. the free kick. A collision led to RWDM getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Mikael Valström hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jorre Van der Voert in the 77th minute of play forced Mexilhão F. C.'s goalkeeper Intxixu Porregimon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jorre Van der Voert struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Intxixu Porregimon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for RWDM. Tony Vandenberge took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Germano Pernambucano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Through an outstanding action, after 85 minutes, Intxixu Porregimon successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Germano Pernambucano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tony Vandenberge having to interfere. Intxixu Porregimon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manu De Mijer in the 93rd minute of the match. Arvin Larsson kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. After 95 minutes of play Mexilhão F. C.'s 方城震 was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 97th minute, Lennert Van der Vloedt sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Mexilhão F. C.'s Intxixu Porregimon didn't even have to move. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. RWDM walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
