The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The Menchu FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. The throw-in from Hu Xi in the 12th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Menchu FC's Caetano Linhares. 17 minutes had been played when some careless play by ACF Fiorentina's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Abdoulay Doucouré was slow to take the kick. During this time Menchu FC's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Peter Söderqwist heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Gabriele Batistuta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Camilo Salvidor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hildeberto Carvalho, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. In the 29th match minute, ACF Fiorentina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Horia Anisie to maneuver through the defense. In the 30th minute of the match, Gabriele Batistuta tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Federico Kalinowski saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bengt-Rune Fastesson in the 32nd minute of play forced Menchu FC's goalkeeper Camilo Salvidor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Menchu FC's Camilo Salvidor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Burkhard Böck in the 34th minute of play. Hu Xi got a throw-in 36 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Gabriel Gaufred. 38 minutes into the match, Menchu FC's Gabriele Batistuta sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Federico Kalinowski narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 39 played minutes Menchu FC got a freekick which was hit by Caetano Linhares. In the 41st minute, Silverio Sergi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 44th match minute, Menchu FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Peter Söderqwist to maneuver through the defense. Camilo Salvidor took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Burkhard Böck, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bengt-Rune Fastesson to strike the kick off in the second half. ACF Fiorentina's Saturnino Michael was substituted for Hildeberto Carvalho. ACF Fiorentina's Maximino Cabezon was substituted for Burkhard Böck. ACF Fiorentina's Martin Vellito was substituted for Bengt-Rune Fastesson. After a rather tough play, Menchu FC's Primitivo Rocendo got a free kick in the 61st minute. 62 minutes into the match, Martin Vellito notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Menchu FC's Camilo Salvidor. Camilo Salvidor was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Menchu FC's Camilo Salvidor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximino Cabezon in the 69th minute of play. The ACF Fiorentina players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
