Inter de Guayaquil FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jakub Ziombkowski was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jakub Ziombkowski could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but João Carlos Lucas made a huge save. Inter de Guayaquil FC's Sebastian Hellkvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gernando Azevedo in the 17th minute of play. The supporters of Los Andes FC - FSCMZ booed when Inter de Guayaquil FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Timmy Galle didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's João Carlos Lucas got control of the ball when Humberto Barragan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jakub Ziombkowski could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but João Carlos Lucas made a huge save. After 39 played minutes Los Andes FC - FSCMZ got a freekick which was hit by Carlos-Henrique Casemiro. 44 minutes had been played when some careless play by Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Humberto Barragan was slow to take the kick. During this time Inter de Guayaquil FC's players had a chance to rest. Éric Cantona was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 48th minute. Inter de Guayaquil FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Inter de Guayaquil FC's Zé Pedro Baptista was substituted for Humberto Barragan.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gernando Azevedo was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's Stefan Stenquist got a free kick in the 55th minute. Inter de Guayaquil FC's Sebastian Hellkvist proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Inter de Guayaquil FC from getting a goal against them. After 74 minutes of play, Inter de Guayaquil FC's Jörn Svartengren made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. João Carlos Lucas was left in no man's land by his defense there! Los Andes FC - FSCMZ made a substitution. Gabriel Recife replaced Gernando Azevedo. Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's João Carlos Lucas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jörn Svartengren in the 79th minute of play. Los Andes FC - FSCMZ's Andrey Tzanichev was substituted for Fortunato Froněk. In the 83rd minute of the game Timmy Galle made a throw-in which Mateusz Giertych played forward.
