The corner led to FC Dundee's Guido Arujärv getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Kaido Jaas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Genaro Quiroga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kaido Jaas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FC Dundee's Ain Averin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save FC Dundee from getting a goal against them. When Kaido Jaas came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the FC Dundee fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kaido Jaas couldn't finish the play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Arno Luuk made a great header on FC Dundee's corner, it was just that River Plate's Genaro Quiroga managed to reach the ball for a save. Arno Luuk's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Genaro Quiroga read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. Ain Averin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Henrikh Vartanyan, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. If Arno Luuk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Genaro Quiroga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arno Luuk in the 69th minute of play. Arno Luuk sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Arno Luuk could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Genaro Quiroga made a huge save. 76 minutes into the game, FC Dundee's Arno Luuk nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Genaro Quiroga made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. River Plate made a substitution. Erik Albuquerque replaced Eleuterio Efraim. River Plate's Mauricio Tiniebra was substituted for Henrikh Vartanyan. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind River Plate's goalkeeper Genaro Quiroga, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Genaro Quiroga stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Arno Luuk's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. In the 89th minute, Romulo Casado ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ain Averin was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. Although River Plate had been in control for most of the match, FC Dundee still came away with the win.
