Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rolando Ortiz in the 7th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arturo Gordo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Darien Gaitan kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. If Jorge Pimentel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's Arturo Gordo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rolando Ortiz in the 12th minute of play. Shawn Cruz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Darien Gaitan in the 14th minute of play. Adolfo Duarte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jorge Pimentel in the 23rd minute of play forced PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's goalkeeper Arturo Gordo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON booed when Real Madrid de Guatemala was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zelvin Díaz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Machado Pellicer was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 26th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. 32 minutes into the game, Ulises Palma was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Real Madrid de Guatemala's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON the free kick. After 32 played minutes Real Madrid de Guatemala got a freekick which was hit by Ulises Palma. After 38 minutes, Darien Gaitan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON and the Real Madrid de Guatemala players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 38th match minute, PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Darien Gaitan to maneuver through the defense. After 39 played minutes PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON got a freekick which was hit by Endira Freire. After 40 played minutes, Real Madrid de Guatemala's Julio Villacorta shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Arturo Gordo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Real Madrid de Guatemala reached it. PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's defense didn't have a chance, in the 47th minute, when Jorge Pimentel scored to the left of an out of position Arturo Gordo, making the score, 1-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Rolando Ortiz made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Zelvin Díaz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Real Madrid de Guatemala's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON the free kick. In the 52nd minute, Zelvin Díaz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Arturo Gordo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adolfo Duarte in the 56th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Jorge Pimentel managed to get in a good position for a shot. Real Madrid de Guatemala's supporters rose to their feet, but Jorge Pimentel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arturo Gordo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jorge Pimentel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arturo Gordo having to interfere. Arturo Gordo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adolfo Duarte in the 71st minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jorge Pimentel in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arturo Gordo saved PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON from getting behind. 85 minutes into the match, PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's goal looked a bit too open when Rolando Ortiz came free, but Arturo Gordo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 86th minute, Endira Freire got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Arturo Gordo came out of the goal in the 89th minute to try and stop a shot by Real Madrid de Guatemala's Jorge Pimentel. But to his dismay, Jorge Pimentel quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Arturo Gordo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rolando Ortiz in the 96th minute of play. PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
