Laurențiu Muntean received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 2nd minute. Gonzalo Regis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 5thth minute of the game Horaţiu Corduneanu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atlético Rio Cuarto's Gonzalo Regis was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 10 minutes into the match, Stiinta-Univ.'s goalkeeper Edgar Coposu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Esteban Ortle. Gelu Ţirpe was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 22 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 22nd minute of the game. One of Stiinta-Univ.:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Atlético Rio Cuarto:s goal. Stiinta-Univ.:s Edgar Coposu showed great skill when he stopped Celso Lonzo:s penalty. After 26 minutes, Inocencio Napier mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atlético Rio Cuarto and the Stiinta-Univ. players grew even worse after the yellow card. 29 minutes into the match, Atlético Rio Cuarto's goal looked a bit too open when Laurențiu Muntean came free, but Gonzalo Regis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Roman Urbes took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 34th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Edgar Coposu. Stiinta-Univ.'s goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Laurențiu Muntean fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gonzalo Regis having to interfere. In the 46th minute, Eleuterio Benvide hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Laurențiu Muntean made a kick off. Gonzalo Regis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horaţiu Corduneanu in the 51st minute of play. Atlético Rio Cuarto's Gonzalo Regis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Horaţiu Corduneanu in the 53rd minute of play. In the 55th minute, Celso Lonzo sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Stiinta-Univ.'s Edgar Coposu didn't even have to move. 57 minutes into the match, Stiinta-Univ.'s goal looked a bit too open when Astor Arotza came free, but Edgar Coposu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Laurențiu Muntean struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Gonzalo Regis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Stiinta-Univ.. Stiinta-Univ.'s Edgar Coposu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eleuterio Benvide in the 66th minute of play. 69 minutes into the match, Atlético Rio Cuarto's goalkeeper Gonzalo Regis had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Laurențiu Muntean. Laurențiu Muntean recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 73rd minute Traian Lupescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gonzalo Regis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jimeno Caetano kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. A hard shot by Irinel Itoafă from long distance, 76 minutes into the match, got Gonzalo Regis's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Traian Lupescu hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. If Laurențiu Muntean had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Atlético Rio Cuarto booed when Stiinta-Univ. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laurențiu Muntean didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stiinta-Univ.'s players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
