After some careless play in the Santos FC defense, Marco Servando kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aaron Smallwood. The Santos FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aaron Smallwood should have stopped the shot. In the 44th match minute, Santos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mike Richardson to maneuver through the defense. MegaFenerbahce's Atay Türegün proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save MegaFenerbahce from getting a goal against them. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gu Yi Yuan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
