In the 13th minute Klement Bryk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Axel Östlund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Fresta BK Väsby fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Axel Östlund should have stopped the shot. Ajax's Gigi Buffon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henrik Biörnberg in the 30th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chad Smith in the 31st minute of play forced Fresta BK Väsby's goalkeeper Axel Östlund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 37 minutes, Klement Bryk put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Axel Östlund. 42 minutes had been played when some careless play by Fresta BK Väsby's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Despite this Axel Östlund quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. With a little luck, Ajax's Gigi Buffon got control of the ball when Patrik Öberg tried to sneak it across the goal line. After the first half Ajax were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Henrik Biörnberg to make the kick off. The supporters of Fresta BK Väsby booed when Ajax was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wojtek Sokol didn't get a good kick on the ball. Axel Östlund didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tonton Eren went, in the 72nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Jacek Kieca managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ajax's supporters rose to their feet, but Jacek Kieca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Axel Östlund breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Remigiusz Galaska could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 98th minute of the match, but Axel Östlund made a huge save.
