Anios Karaoulanis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mike Zoetmulder having to interfere. In the 31st minute Douglas Debecker shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mike Zoetmulder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Mathias de Ruijter could shoot a difficult shot in the 34th minute, which Julius Vanneste however easily saved by the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Huub Gerrits got free with Julius Vanneste in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Limburg United's Anios Karaoulanis got a free kick in the 40th minute. After 42 minutes of play, De Pelgrims's Mathias de Ruijter made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julius Vanneste was left in no man's land by his defense there! All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julius Vanneste prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 84thth minute of the game Perivaldo Eger who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Limburg United's Julius Vanneste was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Limburg United players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for De Pelgrims.
