The Thornhill City fans' excitement grew in the 3rd match minute when Thornhill City's Radoman Karaičić looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Per Gross hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Heinz-Gerd Bonin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Radoman Karaičić, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. In the 8th minute, Dejan Jovanić hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eulalio Jakes hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Draža Milentijević fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Heinz-Gerd Bonin having to interfere. Thornhill City's Staniša Šorgić proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Thornhill City from getting a goal against them. A sloppy throw-in by Eulalio Jakes in the 21st minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Thornhill City's Dejan Jovanić. Heinz-Gerd Bonin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Radoman Karaičić, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Thornhill City's goalkeeper Staniša Šorgić, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A throw-in in the 35th minute of the game was made by Eulalio Jakes with Matti Erkiner as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. After having played for 37 minutes, Radoman Karaičić managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Thornhill City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Radoman Karaičić was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Thornhill City's zone, Matti Erkiner stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Staniša Šorgić came out of the goal and Matti Erkiner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 44 played minutes 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz got a freekick which was hit by Andras Gafus. Staniša Šorgić made an important save on a dangerous shot by Matti Erkiner in the 47th minute. 47 minutes into the match, Thornhill City's goalkeeper Staniša Šorgić had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Matti Erkiner. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Matti Erkiner to make the kick off. Stefan Bjelić made in the 62nd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz's Cederique De Meur. In the 63rd minute Matti Erkiner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Staniša Šorgić saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Thornhill City booed when 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eulalio Jakes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 89th minute of the match Thornhill City got a corner. 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Oscar-Alfredo Ruggeri ran over to the corner to take the kick. Staniša Šorgić stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marcus Willmann's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. The 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Thornhill City's performance. The match ended with a win for Thornhill City.
