The audience thought a goal was coming when Paavo Burgdorf got free with Oliver Kann in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Hannover Reds booed when WWW LENINGRAD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gleb Zheglov didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paavo Burgdorf in the 17thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Oliver Kann, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 19th minute Ben Labigne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oliver Kann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arvid Kuntz scored 1-0 in the 20th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Oliver Kann, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Oliver Kann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ben Labigne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 31st play minute Paavo Burgdorf came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Oliver Kann. 3-0. Oliver Kann made an important save on a dangerous shot by Paavo Burgdorf in the 37th minute. After a defensive mix-up in WWW LENINGRAD's zone, Arvid Kuntz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oliver Kann came out of the goal and Arvid Kuntz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 46 minutes into the match, WWW LENINGRAD's goalkeeper Oliver Kann had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paavo Burgdorf.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ben Labigne to strike the kick off in the second half. Oliver Kann didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Paavo Burgdorf went, in the 51st minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paavo Burgdorf in the 55th minute of play forced WWW LENINGRAD's goalkeeper Oliver Kann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ren Feng came free with the goalkeeper in the 56th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Till Geppert could save by the left post. In the 59th minute, Ren Feng got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 61 minutes into the match, Ben Labigne had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Oliver Kann. WWW LENINGRAD's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ben Labigne was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. Oliver Kann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ben Labigne, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. 66 minutes into the game, Hannover Reds's Ben Labigne nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Oliver Kann made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-0. Oliver Kann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ben Labigne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Oliver Kann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paavo Burgdorf in the 71st minute of play. Hannover Reds's Hermann Zach was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Oliver Kann in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Paavo Burgdorf sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 79thth minute of the game Paavo Burgdorf who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but WWW LENINGRAD's Oliver Kann was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the match had gone on for 79 minutes, Paavo Burgdorf put it in 7-0 from a short distance just to the right of Oliver Kann. After a defensive mix-up in WWW LENINGRAD's zone, Paavo Burgdorf stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oliver Kann came out of the goal and Paavo Burgdorf tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 85 minutes, Paavo Burgdorf mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hannover Reds and the WWW LENINGRAD players grew even worse after the yellow card. 91 minutes into the match, Hannover Reds's Ben Labigne sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Oliver Kann narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ben Labigne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oliver Kann having to interfere. In the 95th minute Ben Labigne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oliver Kann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 96 minutes into the game, Ívan Poddubnyi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. WWW LENINGRAD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hannover Reds the free kick. There was no doubt that Hannover Reds were the better team. Hannover Reds's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
