In the 8th minute, one of ✰VILLA SARMIENTO✰:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for ✰VILLA SARMIENTO✰. Sílvio Luiz da Fonseca received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Nemesio Checa came out and tried to block the shot, but Sílvio Luiz da Fonseca slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 23rd minute. Nemesio Checa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gabriel Pena in the 28th minute. Sílvio Luiz da Fonseca could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Nemesio Checa made a huge save. In the 30th minute, Carlos Eduardo Aguiar left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The BOTAFOGO fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. In the 34th minute, BOTAFOGO's Gabriel Pena ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nemesio Checa. Nemesio Checa yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 5-0. After a rather tough play, BOTAFOGO's Carlos Eduardo Aguiar got a free kick in the 37th minute. In the 42nd minute, Maurício Cardozo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Nemesio Checa. The goal made the score 6-0.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Maurício Cardozo in the 51st minute of play forced ✰VILLA SARMIENTO✰'s goalkeeper Nemesio Checa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. ✰VILLA SARMIENTO✰'s Nemesio Checa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sílvio Luiz da Fonseca in the 53rd minute of play. Gabriel Pena's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nemesio Checa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. But to his dismay, Sílvio Luiz da Fonseca quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 8-0. Nemesio Checa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maurício Cardozo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 89 minutes into the match, Maurício Cardozo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nemesio Checa. ✰VILLA SARMIENTO✰'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Maurício Cardozo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 9-0. BOTAFOGO walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
