Zeledon Locaio received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Everardo Alsua came out and tried to block the shot, but Zeledon Locaio slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 7th minute. Sporting Cristal were furious when Otsando Calonge was red carded, 18 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Zeledon Locaio did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 3-0 to the left of a surprised Everardo Alsua 20 minutes into the match. 4-1 became the score in the 31st minute when Mane Biembengén elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Anibal Bonifaco hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mane Biembengén in the 34th minute of play forced Rafaela FC's goalkeeper Prospero Calvino to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Everardo Alsua showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zeledon Locaio in the 36th minute of the match. In the 40th minute, Rafaela FC's Anibal Bonifaco dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 5-1. Anibal Bonifaco struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Everardo Alsua didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rafaela FC. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mane Biembengén stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
