Zé Pedro de Queirós took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 余永川, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by 余永川 in the 27th minute of play forced America Futebol Clube SP's goalkeeper Zé Pedro de Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zé Pedro de Queirós made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gerardo Ibar in the 29th minute of play. Rodriguinho Varela hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. After 30 played minutes America Futebol Clube SP got a freekick which was hit by Rodriguinho Varela. 32 minutes into the match, America Futebol Clube SP's goal looked a bit too open when 余永川 came free, but Zé Pedro de Queirós reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 38 minutes into the match, 余永川 had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zé Pedro de Queirós. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Arthur Bufi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Cruzeiro Esporte Clube from getting a goal against them. In the 47th minute, America Futebol Clube SP's Renatinho de Castro ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Arthur Bufi. Arthur Bufi yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luiz Paulo Albuquerque was the one to do the kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Cristi Saron slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Zé Pedro de Queirós. That made the score 1-4 after 53 minutes of play. Cristi Saron recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 57th minute Renatinho de Castro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arthur Bufi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 61st minute, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's 余永川 ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Zé Pedro de Queirós. Zé Pedro de Queirós yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-5. The crowd rose to their feet as 余永川 kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Zé Pedro de Queirós. That made the score 1-6 in the 67 minute of play. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Olavo Quadros was substituted for Douglas Botelho. If Gwidon Cwojdak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With his leg Zé Pedro de Queirós managed to avoid a goal in the 83rdth minute, when Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's 余永川 fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 余永川 might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zé Pedro de Queirós. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. 余永川 ran back to his position shaking his head. America Futebol Clube SP's Zé Pedro de Queirós proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save America Futebol Clube SP from getting a goal against them. In the 88th minute 余永川 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Pedro de Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zé Pedro de Queirós showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gwidon Cwojdak, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. If 余永川 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube played a much better game than America Futebol Clube SP and deserved their victory. The America Futebol Clube SP players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
