In the 5th minute of the match Sydney FC got a corner. FF Små Gröna Män's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Kai Petermann ran over to the corner to take the kick. Jan Larsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Sydney FC's zone, Dick Hagberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Florian Guderian came out of the goal and Dick Hagberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jakov Stähr in the 15th minute of play forced FF Små Gröna Män's goalkeeper Jan-Åke Nordlander to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 15th minute of the match, Jakov Stähr tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jan-Åke Nordlander saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The supporters of Sydney FC booed when FF Små Gröna Män was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ian Ahlbom didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jan-Åke Nordlander was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Kai Petermann. In the 23rd minute Sydney FC were awarded a corner. Kai Petermann went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Sydney FC's Kai Petermann to fire away a dangerous shot which Jan-Åke Nordlander despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Svante Blom received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Florian Guderian tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, FF Små Gröna Män's Jan-Åke Nordlander got control of the ball when Jakov Stähr tried to sneak it across the goal line. Dick Hagberg scored 0-1 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Florian Guderian, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Florian Guderian made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jan Larsson in the 35th minute of play. When Dick Hagberg fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FF Små Gröna Män's protests and gave Dick Hagberg a yellow card for diving instead. Jan-Åke Nordlander took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jakov Stähr, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half FF Små Gröna Män were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jakov Stähr to make the kick off. In the 67th match minute, FF Små Gröna Män was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dick Hagberg to maneuver through the defense. When Henrik Reifer fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sydney FC's protests and gave Henrik Reifer a yellow card for diving instead. After 69 played minutes Sydney FC got a freekick which was hit by Henrik Reifer. Sydney FC's Florian Guderian played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Johnny Bergqvist in the 70th minute of play. FF Små Gröna Män were awarded a corner in the 71th minute after Sydney FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. André Holm took the corner. Nat Schmitt tried in the 72nd minute to hit away a contribution but miss-kicked the ball which ended up in his own goal and left an unhappy Florian Guderian a with quite unnecessary self made goal. Result 0-2. Ian Ahlbom's late challenge caught a Sydney FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ian Ahlbom helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, FF Små Gröna Män's Ian Ahlbom got a free kick in the 75th minute. After 79 minutes of play FF Små Gröna Män's Ian Ahlbom was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Sydney FC booed when FF Små Gröna Män was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ian Ahlbom didn't get a good kick on the ball. Svante Blom kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. FF Små Gröna Män's Johnny Bergqvist got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 86 minutes, Johnny Bergqvist managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FF Små Gröna Män's supporters crossed their fingers, but Johnny Bergqvist was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, FF Små Gröna Män's Jan Larsson got a free kick in the 88th minute. In the 89th minute of the match Hinrik Grobmaul sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jan-Åke Nordlander skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jakov Stähr in the 96th minute of play forced FF Små Gröna Män's goalkeeper Jan-Åke Nordlander to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the final whistle sounded FF Små Gröna Män left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Sydney FC.
