Gualterio Socorro was left in no man's land by his defense there! Pacho Carabajal received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Gualterio Socorro came out and tried to block the shot, but Pacho Carabajal slotted it home off the left post making it 4-0 in the 18th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pacho Carabajal in the 29th minute of play forced Nouvelle Vague's goalkeeper Gualterio Socorro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gualterio Socorro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Raoul Lambert in the 47th minute.

The wind increased when Pacho Carabajal made the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute, Jozef Waron hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 59th minute Zac Bal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gualterio Socorro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Brugge United were awarded a corner in the 60th minute after Nouvelle Vague's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mark Wauters took the corner. Gualterio Socorro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raoul Lambert, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gualterio Socorro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zac Bal, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Lucio Caetano might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aldo Candal. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lucio Caetano ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match had gone on for 84 minutes, Raoul Lambert put it in 8-0 from a short distance just to the right of Gualterio Socorro. In the 88th match minute, Nouvelle Vague was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Walter Abacha to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Brugge United booed when Nouvelle Vague was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucio Caetano didn't get a good kick on the ball. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Brugge United fully deserved thier win.
