In the 3rd minute, Kaj Jonasson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Melchester Rovers's Patrick Samuelsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leo Karlo in the 10th minute of play. After 12 minutes, Klas Vallgren mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Melchester Rovers and the Florida Gulf Coast players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Melchester Rovers's Klas Vallgren got a free kick in the 12th minute. In the 17th minute Enrique Tiadoro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patrick Samuelsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 18 minutes into the game, Fabio Jerico cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Patrick Samuelsson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Lucio Geofredo made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Kaj Jonasson sent off a good shot on target. In the 32nd minute, Leo Karlo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Patrick Samuelsson was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Fabio Jerico received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Patrick Samuelsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Leo Karlo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 44th minute Kaj Jonasson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucio Geofredo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

53 minutes into the match, Klas Vallgren notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Florida Gulf Coast's Lucio Geofredo. Lucio Geofredo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Leo Karlo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Melchester Rovers getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Gabino Mendez hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fabio Jerico in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Patrick Samuelsson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gabino Mendez's late challenge caught a Florida Gulf Coast's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gabino Mendez helped the player get up and apologised. Gabino Mendez hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Patrick Samuelsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enrique Tiadoro in the 69th minute of play. In the 70th minute Osvald Tinglöf shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucio Geofredo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Leo Karlo took a quick shot and it went in 2-3 without a chance for Patrick Samuelsson to make any attempt to save it. Patrick Samuelsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Enrique Tiadoro in the 81st minute of the match. 85 minutes into the match, Melchester Rovers's Kaj Jonasson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lucio Geofredo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 86th minute Fabio Jerico shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patrick Samuelsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leo Karlo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Patrick Samuelsson made a huge save. Melchester Rovers's Patrick Samuelsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabio Jerico in the 89th minute of play. The supporters of Florida Gulf Coast booed when Melchester Rovers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bogumil Borkowski didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Florida Gulf Coast eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
