The supporters of Lyon booed when Atlético Bucaramanga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ladio Toria didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Atlético Bucaramanga's Sergio Quintero got a free kick in the 41st minute. If Fabiano Borel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fabiano Borel was the one to do the kick off. David Ospina stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gameiro Planche's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. 60 minutes into the match, Lyon's goal looked a bit too open when Elixio Garros came free, but Tony Burg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hamza Robinot sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tony Burg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Weterio Caceo in the 70th minute of play. Jean-Cyrille Bellot fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Ospina having to interfere. Malcom Deloison hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. David Ospina made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabiano Borel in the 78th minute of play. In the 83rd minute, Sergio Quintero ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tony Burg was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. Jean-Cyrille Bellot kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. 93 minutes into the match, Elixio Garros had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tony Burg. Lyon's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Elixio Garros was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. When the match clock showed 96 minutes, the score became 7-0 when Elixio Garros sped through Lyon's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Tony Burg. There was no doubt that Atlético Bucaramanga were the better team. Atlético Bucaramanga's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
