The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience was convinced that Gabriel Poveda's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Douglas Schoenmaekers was relentless in the 4th minute of the game. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gabriel Poveda couldn't finish the play. 6 minutes into the match, FC Bruges's goal looked a bit too open when Mateus Alves came free, but Douglas Schoenmaekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 13 minutes, Gabriel Poveda put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Douglas Schoenmaekers. In the 16thth minute of the game Gabriel Poveda who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Bruges's Douglas Schoenmaekers was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 17th minute, Mateus Alves made a precise shot to the right of Douglas Schoenmaekers. FC Bruges's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Mateus Alves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. AVAÍ F.C.'s Marcos Catarinense proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save AVAÍ F.C. from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gabriel Poveda in the 24th minute of play forced FC Bruges's goalkeeper Douglas Schoenmaekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcos Catarinense stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Herman Bormans's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. In the 33rd minute, Mathieux De Weyngaert got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mateus Alves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Douglas Schoenmaekers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mateus Alves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 43rdth minute of the game Gabriel Poveda who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Bruges's Douglas Schoenmaekers was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of AVAÍ F.C. booed when FC Bruges was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Herman Bormans didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 44 minutes of play, AVAÍ F.C.'s Mateus Alves made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Douglas Schoenmaekers was left in no man's land by his defense there!

Douglas Schoenmaekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mateus Alves in the 53rd minute of play. Douglas Schoenmaekers didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gabriel Poveda went, in the 61st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-6 was the resulting score. AVAÍ F.C.'s Leopoldo Toscano was substituted for Fernandão Arce. AVAÍ F.C.'s Oswaldo Recife was substituted for Nelsinho Catarinense. In the 69th minute, Tony Henderickx hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. FC Bruges's Douglas Schoenmaekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mateus Alves in the 70th minute of play. Gabriel Poveda took the ball and in the 71 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Douglas Schoenmaekers. Douglas Schoenmaekers dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-7. Douglas Schoenmaekers made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gabriel Poveda in the 75th minute. 82 minutes into the match, FC Bruges's goalkeeper Douglas Schoenmaekers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gabriel Poveda. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mateus Alves in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Douglas Schoenmaekers saved FC Bruges from getting behind. Douglas Schoenmaekers had great luck who in the 89thth minute grab hold of the ball when Mateus Alves from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. A collision led to FC Bruges getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Herman Bormans hit a great ball. When the final whistle sounded AVAÍ F.C. left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than FC Bruges.
