The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wanderson Baptista got free with Cirilo Micael in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cacá da Fonseca kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. 6 minutes into the match, Pilar FC's Paolo Lalla sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Beto de Sousa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wanderson Baptista in the 8th minute of play forced Pilar FC's goalkeeper Cirilo Micael to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Beto de Sousa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Samuel Onofre, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Pilar FC's Federico Truylos got a free kick in the 12th minute. After 14 minutes of play, Pilar FC's Paolo Lalla made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Beto de Sousa was left in no man's land by his defense there! Vila Nova FC's Beto de Sousa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Samuel Onofre in the 17th minute of play. If Wilton Toledo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 23rd match minute, Pilar FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pablo Ledesma to maneuver through the defense. In the 29th minute, Paolo Lalla got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match clock showed 29 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Severino Astrada sped through Vila Nova FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Beto de Sousa. Beto de Sousa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paolo Lalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Federico Truylos kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Pilar FC's Severino Astrada got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 46 minutes into the match, Pablo Mouche had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Beto de Sousa. Vila Nova FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pablo Mouche was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Severino Astrada made a kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Pablo Mouche kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Beto de Sousa. That made the score 0-5 in the 54 minute of play. Beto de Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pablo Mouche in the 59th minute of play. Saverio Etxahun kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paolo Lalla in the 66th minute of play forced Vila Nova FC's goalkeeper Beto de Sousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 72nd minute Serginho Nóbrega shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cirilo Micael saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cirilo Micael took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Serginho Nóbrega, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Through an outstanding action, after 81 minutes, Beto de Sousa successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Severino Astrada in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Beto de Sousa saved Vila Nova FC from getting behind. A collision led to Vila Nova FC getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Serginho Nóbrega hit a great ball. Pilar FC's Paolo Lalla got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 91 minutes into the match, Vila Nova FC's goal looked a bit too open when Severino Astrada came free, but Beto de Sousa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Vila Nova FC booed when Pilar FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Federico Truylos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pilar FC played a much better game than Vila Nova FC and deserved their victory. The Vila Nova FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
