With an all-out effort, Danone CC's Manoel Loarte threw himself towards the right post 2 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Júnior Veloso, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The audience thought a goal was coming when Júlio Pena got free with Manoel Loarte in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 11th minute Fausto Senna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manoel Loarte saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manoel Loarte made an important save on a dangerous shot by Júlio Pena in the 14th minute. In the 20th minute of the match, Júlio Pena got a very nice opportunity to score, but Manoel Loarte was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Montevideo City Torque's Manoel Loarte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Szczepan Mosiniak in the 24th minute of play. Manoel Loarte was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Manoel Loarte showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fausto Senna in the 55th minute of the match. Fausto Senna scored 2-0 in the 61st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Manoel Loarte, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
