Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Vali Aurelianu quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 17th minute Remus Voican shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jesualdo Maltez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Daddy Gol in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jesualdo Maltez saved AD Pontassolense from getting behind. Björn Jernberg was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 22 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 22nd minute of the game. One of Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of AD Pontassolense:s goal. The goalkeeper, Mugurel Bleoancă, was totally fooled by AD Pontassolense's Nélson Bezerra, who 24 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Mei Xuan Yu was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jesualdo Maltez in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Mugurel Bleoancă played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arthur Branco in the 37th minute of play. When Florin Cosor came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Florin Cosor couldn't finish the play. In the 41st minute, Florin Cosor made a precise shot to the right of Jesualdo Maltez. AD Pontassolense's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Jesualdo Maltez came out of the goal in the 44th minute to try and stop a shot by Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Daddy Gol. But to his dismay, Daddy Gol quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. After the first half Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Guilherme Valério made a kick off. 2-3 became the score in the 52nd minute when Arthur Branco elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 57 minutes into the match, AD Pontassolense's goalkeeper Jesualdo Maltez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daddy Gol. The crowd rose to their feet as Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Florin Cosor slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jesualdo Maltez. That made the score 2-4 after 67 minutes of play. AD Pontassolense's Jesualdo Maltez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save AD Pontassolense from getting a goal against them. In the 76th minute, Salvador Fraga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 80 minutes into the game, Salvador Fraga was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. AD Pontassolense's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- the free kick. After 80 played minutes AD Pontassolense got a freekick which was hit by Salvador Fraga. After 83 minutes AD Pontassolense's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Nistor Predescu who took care of the corner kick. Through an outstanding action, after 85 minutes, Jesualdo Maltez successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After having played for 88 minutes, Florin Cosor managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Florin Cosor was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Florin Cosor came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Florin Cosor couldn't finish the play. Jesualdo Maltez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daddy Gol in the 94th minute of the match. The corner ended in Nistor Predescu almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but AD Pontassolense's Jesualdo Maltez did a great save.
