But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Amerigo Melucci couldn't finish the play. In the last second João Pedro Soeiro throw himself and got hold of the ball when Amerigo Melucci in the 18thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. A collision led to Lunatics of Arianrhod getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Davide Onori hit a great ball. Orlando Correia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ettore Albertini read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. Ettore Albertini came out of the goal and Zé Carlos Schmidt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Amerigo Melucci succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 42nd playminute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Amerigo Melucci was the one to do the kick off.
