Jacinto Duarte hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. 10 minutes into the match, Desportivo Lucca MZ's goal looked a bit too open when Rusty Little came free, but Marcelinho Cruz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 13 played minutes Desportivo Lucca MZ got a freekick which was hit by Jacinto Duarte. In the 15th minute, Michel de Brito hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 17 minutes into the match, Desportivo Lucca MZ's goalkeeper Marcelinho Cruz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jamar Burton. 21 minutes into the game, Santos FC's Lawrence Smart nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marcelinho Cruz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. In the 29th minute, Santos FC's Jamar Burton dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Lawrence Smart could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Marcelinho Cruz made a huge save. 38 minutes into the match, Desportivo Lucca MZ's goalkeeper Marcelinho Cruz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Milton Heath. In the 40th minute Lawrence Smart shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelinho Cruz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 46th minute of the match Hermínio Leite shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jim Mitchell showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The supporters of Santos FC booed when Desportivo Lucca MZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Orlando Munhoz didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sandro da Fonseca to strike the kick off in the second half. Byron Kane hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Jim Mitchell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hermínio Leite, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Santos FC's Jim Mitchell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sandro da Fonseca in the 76th minute of play. Marcelinho Cruz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jamar Burton, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Lawrence Smart's late challenge caught a Desportivo Lucca MZ's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lawrence Smart helped the player get up and apologised. After 81 played minutes Santos FC got a freekick which was hit by Lawrence Smart. Jim Mitchell was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Hermínio Leite. Marcelinho Cruz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lawrence Smart went, in the 91st minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. There was no doubt that Santos FC were the better team. Santos FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
