In the 14thth minute of the game Cosme Thomas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Basel's Stephen Bright was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Stephen Bright showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lorenzo Lico in the 15th minute of the match. Stephen Bright took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Primitivo Mikelats, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 20th minute Keiran Dawson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anier Peruxu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 21 minutes into the match, Hurboc's goalkeeper Anier Peruxu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wlodzimierz Kieca. Cosme Thomas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Stephen Bright read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. Keiran Ellis's late challenge caught a Hurboc's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Keiran Ellis helped the player get up and apologised. After 24 played minutes FC Basel got a freekick which was hit by Keiran Ellis. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lorenzo Lico in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Stephen Bright saved FC Basel from getting behind. 29 minutes into the match, FC Basel's goal looked a bit too open when Lorenzo Lico came free, but Stephen Bright reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lorenzo Lico in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Stephen Bright prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some careless play in the FC Basel defense, Lorenzo Lico kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Stephen Bright. The FC Basel fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Stephen Bright should have stopped the shot. Werner van Dam hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Wlodzimierz Kieca was the one to do the kick off. FC Basel's Stephen Bright proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save FC Basel from getting a goal against them. Stephen Bright stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lorenzo Lico's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. Lorenzo Lico who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 74thth minute tested the skills of Stephen Bright when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Tony Farmer kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. 82 minutes into the game, Long Dong was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Stephen Bright was out of position in the 85 minute of play, and Lorenzo Lico capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Lorenzo Lico really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. A hard shot 88 in the game by Lorenzo Lico from a close distance when the talented Stephen Bright managed to make a qualified save. FC Basel's players were relieved.
