Almir Diniz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Róbson Simões, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. Kléber Andrade made a great header on Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's corner, it was just that RWD Molenbeek's Almir Diniz managed to reach the ball for a save. When Luiz Sampaio fell near the penalty area in the 6th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored RWD Molenbeek's protests and gave Luiz Sampaio a yellow card for diving instead. Luiz Sampaio kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marquinhos da Costa in the 8th minute of play forced RWD Molenbeek's goalkeeper Almir Diniz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Almir Diniz came out of the goal in the 10th minute to try and stop a shot by Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Róbson Simões. But to his dismay, Róbson Simões quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. If Francisco Perez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Luiz Sampaio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Almir Diniz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marquinhos da Costa in the 25th minute of play. Nelson Rocha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Sampaio in the 26th minute of play. In the 28th minute of the match RWD Molenbeek got a corner. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Vânderson Santana ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led RWD Molenbeek's Vânderson Santana to fire away a dangerous shot which Nelson Rocha despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Francisco Perezs short, quick shot in the 29thth minute got Nelson Rocha to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Almir Diniz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kléber Andrade, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ronaldo Novaes's late challenge caught a Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ronaldo Novaes helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, RWD Molenbeek's Ronaldo Novaes got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Gilson Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Almir Diniz having to interfere. Kléber Andrade received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Almir Diniz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ booed when RWD Molenbeek was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francisco Perez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Francisco Perez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kléber Andrade hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. The RWD Molenbeek players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ were winning 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marquinhos da Costa made a kick off. Kléber Andrade took the ball and in the 52 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Almir Diniz. Almir Diniz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. After having played for 56 minutes, Francisco Perez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RWD Molenbeek's supporters crossed their fingers, but Francisco Perez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nelson Rocha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisco Perez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 59 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ! The referee gave RWD Molenbeek a penalty, 61 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Vânderson Santana, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Nelson Rocha. 1-3. Almir Diniz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Gilson Souza hit a great ball. Ronaldo Novaes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelson Rocha having to interfere. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
