The audience thought a goal was coming when Juan Luis Dittborn got free with Juan María Ferrari in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Giuseppe Meazza blasted a shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Juan María Ferrari having to make a save. With his leg Juan María Ferrari managed to avoid a goal in the 17thth minute, when Inter de Chillán's Juan Luis Dittborn fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 21 minutes into the game, Fermín Alenk cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. José Ignacio Rocha was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Barrabases de Victoria's Juan María Ferrari played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorge Valdivia in the 95th minute of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Barrabases de Victoria eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
